1. Become a pre-qualified vendor
Learn how to become pre-qualified which allows you to contract directly with project teams through SACOG’s Request for Qualifications. This unique approach streamlines procurement and expedites project delivery. Last year, 10 Civic Lab projects were awarded over $2M of combined private investment and dedicated public sector funding.

2. Create projects with ready teams
Project teams are willing to create disruptive, innovative solutions. They represent 12 commercial corridor project areas, have executive buy-in, and include property owners and public space for pilot projects. Teams consist of economic development and planning staff, property/business owners, developers, and PBIDs. They will pitch their visions at The Marketplace. .

3. See first hand the opportunities for change
See sites ripe for housing innovation, visit areas with storefronts in need of re-design, and discuss areas for feasibility studies during guided corridor project tours.

4. Put your work in front of California’s leaders
Meet legislative staff, local elected officials, and national leaders. Your expertise will guide small-scale pilot design that can lead to scaled implementation, inform policy changes at the local and state level, and develop future iterations of the Civic Lab program

What is Civic Lab?
Our Civic Lab program works to design innovative solutions to challenges facing our communities in the Sacramento region. We like to think of it as our version of a tech-accelerator. 12 teams made up of public sector staff, property/business owners, developers, PBIDs, and more are working to revitalize the commercial corridors in our region. All of our communities have an aging corridor that has seen disinvestment, changing retail habits, aging infrastructure, and vacant buildings. We want to create vibrant places where people want to live, work, and play.

Partners with ULI Sacramento:
12 project teams are participating in Year 2 of Civic Lab representing urban cities and rural main streets. A full team list with their project goals can be found here. .
