Housing
ULI Sacramento Housing Committee
California continues to experience a severe housing crisis, with demand for new housing far outpacing the supply of housing, severe home price increases, and rising development and construction costs. ULI Sacramento’s Housing Initiative has been working to promote best practices and solutions around a variety of complex housing issues. From facilitating the design of temporary housing for the homeless, to presenting case studies of retail repurposed or redesigned to accommodate housing, to hosting discussions about higher density development in suburban areas, the Housing Initiative tackles difficult issues that require input from a variety of stakeholders. Infill Housing Advisory Services Panel November 2022
In the Sacramento region, commercial corridors are generally dominated by former ‘miracle miles’ that are now over-retailed, under-utilized, unfriendly to pedestrians, and lacking in identity. For smart-growth policies to work they need to address, revitalize and reinvent the existing urban fabric while furthering the state’s climate change, transportation and housing goals. In response, SACOG has introduced Green Means Go. To support this pilot program, a ULI Advisory Services Panel, with SACOG as the Panel Sponsor, will focus on two corridors, one in Sacramento County (The North Watt Corridor) and one in City of Folsom (Central Business District, roughly East Bidwell and Riley Streets between Natoma and Blue Ravine).
