Sustainability Council

The principles and practices of sustainable development are the focus of the Sustainability Council. We will seek to explore policies and projects that achieve the triple bottom line of economic, social, and environmental sustainability. The Council will look for opportunities to address diverse sustainability issues in programs and presentations for the membership at large. Potential issues to explore might include:

• Smart growth
• Green infrastructure
• Green buildings
• Alternative transportation
• Financing and incentives for green projects
• Sustainable development opportunities inherent in State and Federal legislation
• Impacts and opportunities inherent in State and Federal mandates
• Jobs-housing balance, housing equity, social capital, carbon emissions, etc

The Sustainability Council will seek to identify examples of policies, programs and developments that meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The Council includes professionals with diverse points of view – architects, engineers, developers, planners, designers, attorneys, investors, market analysts, and public officials. We will seek examples of projects and policies that promote the best outcomes for the human and natural environments, now and into the indefinite future.
