Crocker Park Design Presentation, Invite from the Director
March 22, 2016
On Wednesday, March 30th, and Thursday, March 31st, representatives from !melk, the landscape architecture firm hired to help guide the conceptual design of Crocker Park, will be at the Museum to talk with members and present the work they have done to date.
This is a time of extraordinary change in the areas surrounding the Museum. The neighborhood is growing; the collective redevelopment planned in Sacramento’s downtown and in the Washington and Bridge districts of West Sacramento has the potential to add a population of more than 20,000 residents within just one-half mile of the Crocker’s front doors. As Crocker Park will be at the center of this new urban district, we must seize the opportunity to ensure that the park will be a better asset for the Museum, its visitors and its eventual neighbors.
The !melk team will share findings from the community engagement workshops held last September and solicit your feedback on their conceptual design ideas. They will also continue to surface Museum member and visitor needs, concerns, and desires to make sure your Crocker experience, inside and out, is the best it can be.
At the presentations, you can also learn about a comprehensive plan for public art and art experiences that will unify the districts abutting the riverfront by creating pedestrian friendly pathways, linking art, entertainment, employment, and recreation with new residential developments along the Sacramento riverfront. This effort to create a vibrant new art link between Sacramento and West Sacramento will have Crocker Park at its center.
Be a part of creating the Crocker’s future and provide feedback to the design team in order to move ideas forward and the spread the news of the next great public space taking shape in Sacramento.
We have set aside the following time slots and hope that you will be able to join us at the Crocker for one of them.
